HIPPY: Supporting Preschool Learning at Home

Please refer to the Job Opening available for this program.

Overview

Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is a home visiting program that supports parents in their role as a child’s first and most important teacher.

Who It Serves

The program is designed for families with 3-year-old and 4-year-old children. HIPPY serves families with young children by building strong partnerships with parents. Together, we nurture school readiness, lifelong learning, and the confidence of parents as their child’s first and most powerful teacher.

How it Works

Every week for 30 weeks, a trained parent educator meets with families of young children in their home. Visits are guided by a curriculum designed to equip parents with the skills and tools necessary to succeed in their role as a child’s first and most important teacher.

Target Outcomes

HIPPY is supported by over thirty years of research that shows the program to be effective in improving school readiness, parent involvement, school attendance, classroom behavior, and academic achievement.
